# Make and share a gift preference questionnaire

Use the free [gift preference questionnaire](https://staging.giftlist.com/tools/gift-preference-questionnaire) to write down sizes, favorites and gift ideas, then copy the answers to share with your gift giver. It can be used for Secret Santa, birthdays or a family gift exchange.

## Fill it out and share

1. Open the questionnaire tool.
2. Fill in the answers that will help your giver; the tool has a fixed set of question fields.
3. Leave answers blank for anything you do not want to share, then choose **Generate my profile**. Blank answers are omitted from the generated profile.
4. Choose **Copy to share** and paste the copied text into your message.
5. Check the message and send it through the app or email service you chose.

Copying prepares the text; it does not automatically email everyone in an exchange. A wishlist link can give your giver specific options alongside the answers.

## Is this my exchange questionnaire?

This standalone tool is separate from the **Mystery Q&A** inside a GiftList Secret Santa exchange. Filling out this tool does not automatically update your exchange answers or attach a wishlist. Use the exchange's own controls for those tasks.
