Delete your account or get help with a data request
Updated
In this guide
Use Delete account on your own profile when you want to close that account. Read the confirmation carefully before proceeding. If you only want to put away one list or stop emails, those have separate controls.
Check what you want to remove
Confirm you are signed in to the correct account and save any information you still need. Check active family groups, shared lists and exchanges before removing access to that account.
- Deleting an organizer’s account cancels their active Secret Santa exchanges and notifies participants. Deleting a participant’s account can change matches; if an exchange cannot continue safely, it can be cancelled.
- A family group you own transfers to another eligible active member. If no eligible member remains, the group is deleted.
- If you own an organization, account deletion is blocked until you transfer its ownership or delete the organization. Resolve that first; ask support if you cannot manage it.
To keep a finished list for later, archive it. To stop reminders or emails, change notification preferences. Deleting an account is not a way to cancel a retailer order or recover a lost list.
Request account deletion
- Open your profile on the website, or Edit profile from the app menu.
- Find the Account section and Delete account action.
- Open the confirmation and read its explanation of what will happen.
- Confirm only when ready. Wait for the result rather than repeatedly pressing the button.
- If an error appears, follow its instructions or contact support. A failed-looking screen is not a reliable way to determine the account's final state after a connection interruption.
Deletion is a destructive action. Do not rely on being able to undo it. This guide does not promise that all records, backups or third-party information disappear immediately; see the privacy policy for the applicable details.
If you cannot sign in or need help with your information
Contact GiftList support from an address you control. Explain that you need account or data-request help and identify the account using its email or username. Support may need to verify you before acting. Never send account passwords, payment details or sign-in links.
Retailer orders, payment-app transactions and information held by other services remain separate. Contact those services about their records.
