Run a Secret Santa exchange again
Updated
Use Run it again when available to start a new exchange from an earlier one. Check the copied details and invitations before the new draw; the old exchange and its assignments are not a fresh season's draw.
Start the next exchange
- Open the earlier exchange as its organizer.
- Find Run it again in the available actions or Settings.
- Decide whether to use Avoid last year's matches. Before confirming, know that Create exchange creates the new exchange and immediately sends invitations to eligible invitees. If you need to review everyone before any invitations go out, create a separate exchange manually instead.
- Choose Create exchange when ready.
- Open the new exchange and review its people, budget and exclusions. Dates are not copied, so set the new dates before the draw. Draw when the new group is ready.
Do not forward last year's personal match links as invitations to the new exchange. Use the new exchange's own invitations.
If Run it again is unavailable
The action is restricted while an existing draw is still active. Archiving alone does not make an active draw eligible. Once the exchange has finished or is otherwise eligible, return to check the action. You can also create a separate exchange and enter the details yourself.
Review restrictions and privacy
Avoiding last year's pairings is a preference. It can be skipped or dropped when those extra restrictions would make a draw impossible. Review any notice about this and the group's other exclusions before drawing.
Management actions and carried-over exclusions may allow an organizer to infer pairings. Do not use the previous exchange as evidence that all assignments are permanently hidden from organizers.
