Save gifts with the GiftList browser extension

Updated

In this guide

The Add to GiftList Button saves a product from the store page you are viewing to one of your lists. Install through GiftList's official extension page, sign in, and check the captured details before saving.

Install and open the extension

  1. Open GiftList's browser-extension page in the browser where you want to save gifts.
  2. Follow the installation link for that browser. Chrome and Edge use the Chrome Web Store listing. Safari has its own installation and enablement steps.
  3. After installation, open the browser's extensions menu and find Add to GiftList Button. Pin it to the toolbar if you want quicker access.
  4. Open the extension and sign in to the GiftList account that owns your lists.

Save a product

  1. Open the retailer's actual product page, rather than its cart or search results.
  2. Click the GiftList extension button.
  3. Choose the destination list. Review the name, photo, price and link, and add notes for size, color or variant.
  4. Choose Add to list and wait for its success message.
  5. Open GiftList and confirm the product is on the intended list.

On supported websites, a GiftList save control may appear while browsing. Use the toolbar button as the general entry; an inline or hover button is not promised on every site.

If it does not work

No toolbar button: Open the browser's extensions menu, confirm the extension is installed/enabled and pin it if useful. Refresh an already-open store page after installation.

Wrong or no lists: Check the account signed into the extension. Signing into GiftList in a website tab does not prove the extension is using that account.

Missing product information: Correct the fields offered or copy the product URL into Add gift on the website. Some stores restrict automatic extraction.

Browser permissions: Review site access for the extension if the browser says it cannot read the current page. Use the official listing and the access you are comfortable granting. Private/incognito windows may not enable installed extensions automatically.

The desktop extension is different from iPhone Safari's Share action and from the iPhone/Android in-app browser. Use iPhone saving or Android saving for those devices.
