Invite someone to edit your gift list
Updated
In this guide
Use Invite collaborators when someone should add, edit or remove gifts with you. A normal shared link lets someone shop; it does not give them editing access. Collaborators need a free GiftList account.
Invite a collaborator
- Sign in and open the list you own or can manage as a collaborator.
- Open the list's List options menu and choose Invite collaborators. In the sharing dialog, Invite collaborators to edit your list reaches the same task.
- Enter the person's email address or @username (or choose the matching suggestion). Check that you selected the intended person, especially when names are similar.
- Choose Invite to send the pending invitations. When no new invitations are pending, Done closes the dialog. Follow any confirmation or error shown before assuming the invitation succeeded.
- Ask them to open the invitation and sign in to the account associated with it. Confirm that the list opens with editing controls.
Collaborators can change gifts, including removing them, and can invite other collaborators. Invite only people who should help maintain that list. Ownership and every account-level control are not transferred by an invitation.
Shopping, editing and groups are different
If someone only wants to buy a gift, send the ordinary list link. They do not need a collaborator invitation or account to record a purchase.
If your family wants one place to keep up with several people's wishlists, use a family group. Group membership does not grant editing access to each member's lists. You can use a group and collaborators together when their separate permissions fit what you want.
If the invitation is missing or editing is unavailable
Check the email or username you entered, including spelling. Ask the recipient to check the invited inbox and spam folder. If they signed in with Google or Apple, check which account the provider selected; it may differ from the address invited.
Open the actual list rather than a profile or a different list with a similar title. Confirm that the invitation appears in the collaborators manager. If an invitation fails, correct that failure before repeatedly inviting the same person. Contact support with the list link and the problem if it remains unresolved.
The shared collaborator manager is used across web and supported app versions; the list menu is the reliable entry when tabs differ.
