Share your GiftList by link or QR code

Updated

In this guide

Open your list and use Share to send its link. People can open the link and shop without creating a GiftList account. If you added a list password, they will need that too.

  1. Sign in and open the list you want to share.
  2. Choose Share to open Share your list. You can also reach sharing from the list's menu or Share tab where shown.
  3. Choose Copy link, or choose an available sharing option to send it through another app.
  4. Send that list link to your intended recipients. Copying is not sending: if you chose Copy link, paste it into your message yourself.
  5. Test it in a signed-out browser. Confirm that it opens the correct list and that any password prompt is expected.

Share the list's link rather than a screenshot or your My Lists address. A profile link may show several lists; the list link takes the recipient to the one you mean.

Share or print a QR code

  1. In the list's sharing card, choose QR code.
  2. On desktop, choose Download QR code. On phones and tablets, the button says Save QR code.
  3. In the iPhone or Android app, saving opens the system share sheet. Choose an available save-image or sharing option.
  4. To print the code, save the image and print it from your device. Scan the printed version before distributing it.

The QR code opens the list link. It does not include your list password or bypass it. A QR code opened from a gift's or profile's sharing dialog can point to that gift or profile instead, so generate it from the list you mean to share.

Mobile differences and problems

In the native apps, the owner's list Share button opens the sharing card with QR code. The fixed toolbar Share action can open the system share sheet directly, which does not include GiftList's QR-code row. Use the owner's list Share button when you need the QR code.

If someone cannot open a shared list, send a fresh copied link and check the password with them. Changing Show on my profile does not block a direct link; privacy and password settings explain the difference.
