Reuse a wishlist for another birthday or holiday

Updated

In this guide

You can keep updating an existing list, unarchive an archived list, or duplicate it for a new occasion. Unarchive list restores the existing list to your active lists; it does not reset last year's purchases. Duplicate list creates a separate list with the items you choose to copy.

Find and reopen the old list

  1. Sign in using the account that created it and open My Lists.
  2. If the list is not active, open Archived. Depending on your screen, this is an Archived tile, link or tab.
  3. Open the old list's List options menu and choose Unarchive list. In Settings, the corresponding button is Unarchive.
  4. Confirm the list now appears with your active lists.

If the list was already active, you can edit it directly. A past occasion date does not mean you need a new account or that the list was automatically archived.

Prepare the existing list for another occasion

Review its name and occasion date, remove gifts you no longer want, and update sizes, colors, prices and product links. Keep old purchase records accurate; do not release another person's claim simply to make an old item look available.

In Settings, check delivery instructions, privacy/passwords and Gifting. If Stop accepting gifts on has passed, update or clear that date and save when you want to accept new gifts. People can reserve items must be on for shoppers to record purchases.

Use Share to test the current list link as a guest. Updating or unarchiving the existing list keeps that list's identity; duplicating creates a different destination.

Start a new year's list while preserving the old one

  1. Open List options → Duplicate list.
  2. Under Items to copy, choose Unpurchased only, All items or Empty list, as appropriate.
  3. Choose Create copy, then Go to new list after the copy succeeds.
  4. Rename the copy, set the new occasion details and review every copied gift.
  5. Review the new list's delivery, visibility, password and collaborator settings. Do not assume every setting was copied as you wanted.
  6. Share the new list's own link. People opening the old link will still be on the old list.

If you cannot find the old list at all, check the account and sign-in steps before making a replacement. If you deleted it, unarchiving is not a recovery method.
